Zen and the Art of Improv Comedy for Teens
Have you always wanted to try improv comedy? Have you done a little but want to learn a whole new approach? "The Zen of Improv Comedy for Teens" is a class in which you'll get to explore the art of making it all up on the spot in a very non-scary, positive, and accepting way. Pam teaches short form improv games like you'd see on "Whose Line is it Anyway?" as well as long form improv structures that focus on more theatrical improvisation, and we'll practice the common improv tenets of saying "Yes, and...", listening acutely, redefining failure as success, reacting with honesty, being in the moment...and laugh ourselves silly along the way! This class is great for teens interested in acting, budding comedians, and folks who just want a chance to learn how to think on their feet without freaking out.
Pam Victor is the teacher of all Pegasus classes. Pam was a homeschooling mom for ten years (her son just went off to college!) For eight of those years, she lead a large variety of classes for homeschoolers ages 8 - 18 with a wide range of subjects from literature to art history to improv comedy and beyond. A certified teacher, Pam spent many years as a teacher for pre-schoolers to second graders in both public and private schools. She earned her B.A. from Smith College and her Masters in Elementary Education from Iona College (NY). In 2006, Pam's book "Baj and the Word Launcher: Space Age Asperger Adventures in Communication" was published by Jessica Kingsley, Publ. Her work has appeared in local newspapers and national magazines, such as "Home Education Magazine." Her second book, which is about improvisation, is due out in late-2015. In addition, Pam is a professional comedian and improv-journalist, the founding member of the improv comedy troupe The Ha-Ha's, and the producer of The Happier Valley Comedy Show. She teaches improv comedy throughout the Valley for adults, teens, and kids.
